What I'm Reading, Watching and Listening to.

Reading - In Cold Blood by Truman Capote (mandatory re-reading after just seeing Capote for the first time) and simultaneously, by Michael Chabon, The Yiddish Policemen's Union, which is absolutely amazing.

Watching - Courtesy of Netflix: Extract (just ok, although Ben Affleck is pretty engaging as the drug-dealing bartender), Bobby (intertwines a number of characters, all headed towards their presence at RFK's fatal encounter with Sirhan Sirhan), The Bourne Ultimatum, A History of Violence (really good flick) and One Fast Move or I'm Gone, a documentary with commentary by the likes of Patti Smith, Tom Waits, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Carolyn Casady and many others, revolving around Kerouac's Big Sur and his descent into madness. I also really liked Brad Pitt and Bruce Willis in 26 Monkeys.

Listening - Fela Kuti, Midlake, Nicolette Larson, Field Music, Sir Douglas Quintet and lots of good ol' Grateful Dead.

Books!

Nine Dragons - Michael Connelly's newest Harry Bosch excursion is excellent

AND

Stephen King's Under the Dome, which I just started last night, is purported to be one of his best.  (I paid $9 for this tome, over 1,000 pages, as the Walmart/Amazon price war proceeds.)

Things that REALLY Piss Me Off!

As the vaunted SDUSD Board of Education begins to mull budget cuts, what rears its ugly little head (again) in the first round of proposals but the elimination of all librarians and library technicians, which, if you haven't been looking, comprises the entire library staff at most schools, if they're lucky.
